It is your responsibility to check when your exams are held - by logging into studentConnect and checking your timetable.
On the Student Administration website, you will find detailed information on results, appeals, deferred examinations (Student Services provides information on special consideration), exam clashes, exam papers and rules and who to contact for further examination enquiries.
If you require a calculator during your exam, please see our calculator policy which details approved calculators. All calculators used in exams must have an "approved calculator" sticker.
If you are dissatisfied with an assessment result or the progress status, you have the right to lodge an appeal within 20 working days from the notification of result.
There are three different types of appeal that students can lodge following the release of results. Please read the information below carefully to ensure that you follow the correct process and that the documentation you submit is appropriate for your situation:
An appeal against an assessment result must demonstrate that the assessment of academic performance for the unit(s) is incorrect or unfair. Students who believe they have grounds for such an appeal should first contact the lecturer concerned to discuss the matter informally. If the matter is not satisfactorily resolved the student may then lodge an appeal at the ECM Student Office.
Similarly, students who believe that their progress status has been unfairly or incorrectly determined may lodge an appeal at the ECM Student Office, indicating that they wish to appeal their progress status and also providing the relevant supporting evidence.
Appeals: documentation required
In accordance with University General Rule 1.2.1.31A, students who have been assigned a progress status of ‘Suspended’ or ‘Excluded’ are provided with an opportunity to submit a statement of the reasons for their failure to make satisfactory progress and of the steps they have taken, or will take, to address these if they are permitted to re-enrol. Students should submit their documentation to the ECM Student Office.
Opportunity to show cause: documentation required
a) a statement on an A4 page giving details of their request
b) evidence to support the request (please explain in your statement if no evidence is available)
c) a completed Show Cause Application Form, attached as a cover sheet (see below)
