Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Students enrolled in this programme complete a set of foundation Engineering units, core units in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and a number of option units.

Please Note: This study guide is intended as a guide only.

Course details:

Total points required for this course: 192

Students must complete the following (as set out in the table below):

  • The foundation Engineering units - 36 points;
  • The core units in Electrical and Electronic Engineering - 102 points;
  • one option unit from Group A - 6 points
  • one option unit from Group B -  6 points
  • one option unit from Group C - 6 points
  • four option units from Group D - 24 points
  • option units to make up remaining points from Groups B to F inclusive, provided that no more than 12 points are from Group F; and
  • A Professional Practicum of at least 12 weeks.

See the Electrical and Electronic Engineering options for details of option units

All units have a value of 6 points unless noted otherwise.

NOTES
Note 1: Students who do not complete one of or both ELEC1300 Digital Systems 1 and ELEC1302 Power and Machine Technologies as part of the Engineering foundation option units must complete these units in place of an option unit.
Note 2: Students who have previously completed ELEC2302 Electromagnetics and Electromechanics must not complete ELEC1302 Power and Machine Technologies - students must instead complete an additional option unit. All new students must complete ELEC1302 Power and Machine Technologies only.
Note 3: ELEC2306 Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering is incompatible with MATH2218 Mathematics E2B.
Note 4: Students do not need to take ELEC3300 Analogue Electronics if they have already completed ELEC3304 Physical Electronics 3.
Note 5: ELEC4305 Optimum and Adaptive Filtering and ELEC4307 Power Transmission and Control are incompatible with ELEC4340 Power Transmission and Filtering.
