Bachelor of Computer Science/Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic)


This course allows students to combine studies in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a strong background in Computer Science.

Please Note: This study guide is intended as a guide only.

Course details:

Total points required for this course: 240
Bachelor of Engineering component: 168 points
Bachelor of Computer Science component: 72 points

Students must complete the following (as set out in the table below):

  • The foundation Engineering units - 36 points;
  • The core units in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (except GENG2140 Modelling and Computer Analysis for Engineers) - 96 points;
  • one engineering option unit from Group A - 6 points
  • one engineering option unit from Group B - 6 points
  • one engineering option unit from Group C - 6 points
  • three engineering option units from Group D -  18 points;
  • The core units in Computer Science - 42 points;
  • One of the Computer Science majors listed below - 18 to 24 points;
  • One or two Level 2 Computer Science Option units - 6 to 12 points
  • A Professional Practicum of at least 16 weeks;

Students must complete one of the following Computer Science majors:

  • Systems (MJ-SYSTM)
  • Web Technologies (MJ-TCHWB)
  • Entertainment Technologies (MJ-TCHET)
  • Computation (MJ-COMPT);
  • Software Management (MJ-SFTMT).

NOTES
Note 1: ELEC1302 Power and Machine Technologies is incompatible with ELEC2302 Electromagnetics and Electromechanics. If commencing degree after 2007, students must enrol in ELEC1302 Power and Machine Technologies.
Note 2: Students cannot take ELEC2306 Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering if they have already completed MATH2218 Mathematics E2B.
Note 3: Students do not need to take ELEC3300 Analogue Electronics if they have already completed ELEC3304 Physical Electronics 3.
Note 4: ELEC4305 Optimum and Adaptive Filtering and ELEC4307 Power Transmission and control are incompatible with ELEC4340 Power Transmission and Filtering.
