The Faculty operates a mentoring scheme through its Research Committee.
Advice is available to applicants at any or all of the three stages in the grant writing process, as follows:
- Initial consultation - to discuss the broad parameters of the application: scheme, investigators, budget size and scope, research objectives.
- Draft application - to provide more detailed feedback on the key components of the application.
- Rejoinder - to advise on strategy to adopt and the text of the rejoinder.
How to initiate the process
- The researcher or the Head of School contacts their school's representative on the committee.
- The member confirms with the prospective mentee (in the case of Head of School nomination) then considers who would be a suitably qualified mentor, possibly in consultation with other members of the committee.
- The member obtains the agreement of the prospective mentor and then the mentee.
- At the conclusion of the process, the committee seeks feedback from the mentors and mentees.
The Faculty's scheme runs in parallel to any central schemes and is intended to be available to all applicants.
