Mark Randolph
Professor Mark Randolph has worked at UWA since 1986, heading an active geomechanics research group, comprising about 40 researchers and technical support staff. The main areas of interest of the group are in the mining and offshore industries.
For his work Professor Randolph was awarded an ARC Federation Fellowship, which will run through untll 2010.
A variety of mining research areas – including geomechanics, rock mechanics and mining engineering – are covered at UWA.

Centres
The School of Environmental Systems Engineering is using Wesfarmers Premier Coal Western 5B lake in Collie to develop science and modelling tools for water quality in density stratified mine lakes. This will underpin decision-making for legislation, relinquishment, remediation and end uses of former mining areas.
