The Faculty is committed to attracting and retaining talented researchers and providing high-quality research facilities.

It has developed strong links and partnerships with industry to ensure new technologies and strategies are developed to benefit the global community. Some of our recent research success includes:

Centres and facilities

• Centre for Ecohydrology is a WA State Government Centre of Excellence.
• Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems is a leading provider of geotechnical engineering services to the offshore industry, notably through its centrifuge modelling expertise and advanced laboratory testing facilities.
• Australian National Facility for Ocean Gliders has a fleet of nine gliders which will be used to the study of the major boundary current systems surrounding Australia and their links to coastal ecosystems.

Staff achievements

• Professor Mark Randolph and Professor Cheryl Praeger - Federation Fellowships in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
• Professor Mark Cassidy - Prime Minister's Malcolm McIntosh 2007 Australian Physical Scientist of the Year for his work on anchoring oil and gas platforms. 
• Adjunct Associate Professor Phill Schultz - Chancellor's medal for services to mathematics.
• Professor Laurie Faraone - elected to the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 2006.
• Professor Adrian Baddeley - Pitman Medal for mathematics in 2004, the highest honour bestowed by the Australian Statistical Society.
