The Master of Computer Science caters for both software professionals and students wishing to update and broaden their foundation knowledge and skills.

Course outline

In each semester of this four-semester course, students choose from a selection of advanced units, covering applied computer science and systems and software engineering. The course includes a communications unit and a capstone individual project on a topic of interest to the student, with supervision from a member of our research staff.

Students can focus on a number of fields, including visualisation, programming paradigms, software engineering practice, networks, systems and security. Upon the successful completion of the Master of Computer Science, students may be considered for entry into the graduate research school.

Core units are:

The remainder of units, to the value of 66 points, are chosen from the Level 3, 4, 7 or 8 units offered in the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, provided that no more than 24 points come from Level 3 units.

Admission requirements

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent of this University or equivalent; as recognised by the Faculty.
