Chemical Engineering

Field Engineer, Schlumberger

After finishing my degree in Chemical Engineering at UWA, I have taken part in extensive safety and job specific training programs as an entry level field engineer at Schlumberger.

In my very short time with the company I have already travelled abroad to Malaysia to undergo induction training with engineers from all across the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East. This early opportunity to network, as well as a comprehensive introduction to the company helped me feel comfortable in adjusting from the academic environment at UWA to an industry environment at Schlumberger.

In the near future I will take part in further training in one of the company’s major training hubs in Abu Dhabi, where I will develop both hands-on and theoretical knowledge of Sand Management Systems. As a member of the completions segment, I will be expected to utilise this knowledge in combination with the company’s industry leading subsea tools and technologies to support the oil and gas industry in Australia.

My experience at UWA has played a huge role in preparing me for the oil and gas industry. With the way that the Chemical Engineering course is tailored towards the local industry, you can be confident that you will not only get a world-standard education but also one that is in high demand in the local industry.
