Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Senior Software Platform Manager

My Electrical Engineering degree provided me with the solid technical skills I needed to gain a position in a high tech industry in Silicon Valley.

I chose UWA because it is the best university in Western Australia and one of the best universities in the nation. It was also because UWA offered interesting courses and variety of options.

UWA offered strong academic courses in Electrical Engineering, and the lecturers and professors are of high caliber.  Throughout the study, we had many hands on projects and lab sessions. It prepared me well for joining the high tech field later. In addition, the business degree I earned has helped me greatly in my career growth from engineer to management.

My family migrated from China when I was 16, I went through a period of culture shock and adjustment. UWA had a good mix of students from different ethnic backgrounds. Being Chinese myself, I found it very comforting to have many fellow classmates who were from Asia.

I chose Electrical Engineering because it is a challenging degree that would offer me both an interesting and well paid job after graduating.

My Electrical Engineering degree provided me with the solid technical skills I needed to gain a position in a high tech industry in Silicon Valley. I’m currently working at Nvidia Corporation, a semiconductor company in Silicon Valley, USA. We make graphics chips for variety of platforms such as PC gaming, mobile gaming, high performance computing, etc. I joined Nvidia eight years ago as a software engineer, and now I’m managing the software quality control group for Nvidia’s high performance computing products. I have teams in Santa Clara (the headquarter), USA and Shanghai, China.

Every day, I come to work and look forward to solving challenging problems at work, looking for new ways to improve our products’ quality.
